jonathan love the harp, love the vocal and love how the instruments seem to wander in and out of the songs... it's a proof of the super freedom of music, to just break free. can't say there can be a favourite track, they are woven together to create this totally superb debút! but i do love that harp... Favorite track: Calabashed - Ode To Jazzman John Clarke.

forrest stanley Feels like we are all home together sharing, and my friends just happen to be the warmest most open and talented people imaginable. A wonderful feeling. A feeling I can take with me through my day and share with strangers. A gift beyond measure. Thank you thank you thank you. You few will save this world. You who can take our sorrow and make a new hymn. Favorite track: Calabashed - Ode To Jazzman John Clarke.

Bob Hill Illicit Grooves Wow, I heard Zakia play the pre-order track on her NTS show and and just had to grab this album. Love the spoken word in this. A definite for the playlists of The Illicit Grooves Radio Show for sure.

David Rankin It's gigantic, epic poetic and massively emotional. What great music has to be and sadly rarely is.

Cool and calm and collect Carry on as we rise from the wreck It’s cool and calm and collect Long jump river as we pole vault fence Live and direct Never show your devils respect Never let them see you sweat Back when I almost lost myself That time I almost lost my head The shadows ran across this bed Close confidants, they cut and fled Every finger single me out for the blame That time I almost jumped in front of train Milly rocking on the edge of the knife If I die, who’s gonna live this life Calm down step back breathe in Armadillo, grow a brand new skin Boat capsized, developed fins I took my sorrow and I made a new hymn Calm down, step back breathe in Armadillo, grow a brand new skin Boat capsized, developed fins I took my sorrow and I made a new hymn I took my sorrow and I made a new hymn Cool and calm and collect Carry on as we rise from the wreck It’s cool and calm and collect Long jump river as we pole vault fence Live and direct Never show your devils respect Never let them see you sweat I wear my pain as a jacket I wear my pain as a jacket I lean back, never slacking I lean back, never slacking I endure like the last ten pounds in the bank Converse dirty and the conversation’s frank Stress go high like a tower Grief go deep like a valley A real smile is scarce like a tiger Fakeness spread all around me But I’m alive you see I’m alive you see I’m alive and for that I give thanks

And we were laughing just the other day, ey The evening sky went gold to grey Amongst my friends, a villain with a blade And we were laughing there He pushed a tiny knife into my chest, yeah And all the birds flew from their nests My eyes went south, and my soul went west, yeah The coldest night, I saw my breath Flooding my ears, the sirens blare, ey Flooding my eyes, the tears Bare copper coins inside my jeans, yeah My father absent from my dreams Wish I could see my mom to say goodbye, yeah I told her one day I would fly Over Canary Wharf, the moon by my side And down below All of the lights All of the lights All of the lights All of the lights All of the lights All of the lights All of the lights

Or a minxish thing to be rinsed by big men? On the wrong side of the instep Will you fist swing and the lips split so they drip red Yeah quick to flip at this sixth sense Live tense mate Drink heavyweight Bench press the day Do not let your stress emanate For heaven's sake Don’t ask for help if you felt a way You rage down or you celebrate You binary so no therapy Boy get surly yeah Boys head worldly yeah Boy physi yeah if you get shirty yeah Speak with chest like all head heard me yeah Boy dun school that’s dead end learning yeah Boy tek G-check and get certi Boy stomp to ketch if the crepes dirty Never been that puss, Never been that moist Never been that Gosche, Never been that toy, Never been that sheep Never been that droid, Never been that girl Never been that boy, It’s all man man Do life big it’s all man man Find your way through that dark path, All bastards holding up lanterns Speak the language The where you peeping language The leave you bleeding language The hide your fucking feelings language Screaming anguish, keep it dampened. The comic book and screens out canon Feed us up we’re still we’re feeling famished Whole feeling palette has been abandoned Deep it bruv we don’t feel the damage Squeeze the sponge and it streaming rancid Steaming drunk ‘cus we understand it Ain’t seeking love, we just seeking anger Feeling stuck, but can’t weigh the anchor I think we better take this outside Ain’t seeking love, we just seeking anger Feeling stuck, but can’t weigh the anchor I think we better take this outside Feeling stuck, but can’t weigh the anchor I think we better take this outside

about

Behold A Black Wave.

The debut EP from the newly established, multi-faceted jazz outfit Calabashed, comprised of firebrand poet & MC Joshua Idehen (LV / Benin City / Hugh), sultry saxophonist Alabaster DePlume, dreamlike harpist Maria Osuchowska, drumming donny Donna Thompson, bossman guitarist James Howard and analogue tape and FX wizard Raimund Wong and produced by Comet Is Coming / Soccer 96 production mastermind Danalogue.

Five tracks of contemporary sonic mastery of no known origin firmly rooted in jazz, hip-hop, soul and pure spirit unlike anything else either currently on the radio or our roster.

It has been a journey and a half getting this one off the ground and the councilmen of the great Purple City have honestly never been more excited to welcome another truly unique group of creatives inside The City limits.

They visited Marysia Zofia Osuchowska and she played Harp. Donna came over one time and whistled but stuck around on drums. Raimund Wong made ethereal sounds with the Tapedeck.
